Akashavana Bursary Fund –
for Order retreats
All of us involved in working with Akashavana value the precious opportunities for deepening practice in this mythic realm. The forest retreat of luminous space with its wild, rugged terrain, its remoteness and spaciousness provides excellent conditions for Dharmacharinis to meditate together in nature with fewer distractions from the busy world.
We would like everyone who wishes to come to Akashavana to have the opportunity. We have therefore set up a small bursary fund to help those wanting to come on an Order meditation retreat here but would otherwise be unable to afford it.
What is a Bursary fund?
The bursary exists due to the generosity of others who give dana to support the fund; we are unable to offer free retreat places. As there is a limited amount of money available for each retreat it may not always be possible for us to meet all requests we receive.
Who can access bursary support?
We offer a small number of bursary places to Dharmacharinis who otherwise would not be able to afford to come on an Order meditation retreat.
Bursary places are only available for Order meditation retreats – we are unable to offer financial support for Ordination retreats.
Please consider how much you could afford to pay yourself. We encourage you to make a contribution to the costs if this is possible for you. Of course in some situations this may not be possible, which is fine – we would rather people could come, so just get in touch!
How to access the bursary
Send us an email to community@akashavana.org letting us know which retreat you’re interested in, and explain why you are asking for a bursary.
Donations to the bursary
Can you help other Dharmacharinis to come on retreat to Akashavana by giving a donation to this fund? Small or large amounts are all helpful.
There are a number of ways you can help us maintain this fund:
- You can give when you are booking a retreat by adding a sum or rounding payments up when you pay. Let us know the amount you have donated when you book.
- You could set up a small regular direct debit through your bank or stripe making it clear it is a donation to the bursary
- You could pay a one-off sum to help us build up this fund.
When any booking is cancelled the non-refundable deposit will be transferred to the bursary fund.
